FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Where can I submit my samples?

Samples being submitted for R&D (unofficial) testing can be dropped off directly at the lab located in Miramar, San Diego or scheduled to be picked up.

Sampling for official testing must be coordinated by your distributor and collected using the 2018 California State Cannabis Guidelines.

In order to submit a sample, you must make a unique Account Name and submit a chain of custody with your sample. If you are dropping off your samples directly to the lab, we will have the chain of custody paperwork available at the office.

Q: What is the difference between official testing and R&D testing?

Official testing is mandatory for all products being sold to a consumer from a commercial storefront. Official testing requires that the product be taken to a distributor and sampled by an InfiniteCAL sampling representative. The sampling guidelines are extensive and require strict non-contamination standard operating procedures as well as a specific amount (0.35%) of sample needed from each batch. All official samples are gathered under video surveillance for quality assurance.

R&D testing is used for in-house quality control/quality assurance and can be ordered at any time without the official guidelines. These results cannot be used to sell products to storefronts, but are a good way to know what the status of your products are before submitting them for official tests and can decrease the fail rate for your products. Samples can be dropped off at the lab office directly or scheduled for pickup at one of our pick up locations, listed below.

Q: Which tests are required for my product?

The 2018 California Cannabis Regulations require ALL products to be tested for the following analytes:

  • Potency
  • Potency Homogeneity in Edibles
  • Residual Pesticides
  • Residual Solvents and processing chemicals
  • Microbial Impurities
  • Mycotoxins
  • Moisture content and water activity
  • Heavy metals
  • Foreign materials
  • Terpenes, if advertised on your product label. Otherwise, not required.

All of these requirements will be phased in over the year 2018. For a detailed breakdown of how the phase-in will occur as well as a detailed layout of what analytes we will test for during those periods, check out our 2018 CA Testing Regulations page.

Q: Can I ship samples?

Samples can be shipped to us but only for R&D testing.

Samples cannot be shipped to us for official testing results, this must be done on site.

Call for details.

Q: How much sample is required for R&D testing?

Each product requires a different amount of sample per test. General guidelines are listed as follows:

  • Flower Samples : 1.5 grams per test
  • Extract/Concentrate samples : 1.0 gram per test
  • Edibles : one unit of the product, or at least 5 grams of edible
  • Tinctures : about 2 mL per test
  • Infused Products : one unit of the product, or at least 5 grams of infused product

Q: How do I get my results?

We use a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) called Confident Cannabis. You can create your own account yourself before you submit a product for testing, or allow us to do it for you when the sample is submitted to us. All results are listed here for your reference and can be recalled at any time. An email will be sent to you when your results are ready to be viewed.

Q: How long after my samples are submitted will I receive my test results?

You will receive your test results within 4-5 days after we receive the samples.
